Artist Statement:
Having spent the better part of my childhood in the seaside town of Camden, Maine, I am continually inspired by New England’s rocky coast. My watercolor and acrylic paintings explore natural elements of the shore: rocks, water, sand, shells and seaweed. I observe their intricacies and capture light, color, and texture to create a sense of place. I often incorporate additional textural elements into my work, creating literal dimension through various papers, string, buttons, and fabric. My best paintings are created when I am fully connected and in open conversation with the world around me.
