Holliston Mill Artists Open StudiosOctober 22 and 23, 10 - 4pm
Fall in New England is a great time to visit rural communities and explore the local scene. On the weekend of October 22rd & 23th, The Holliston Mill Artists will host their annual Open Studios event at the mill building.
Participants in the 2011 Open Studios include artists who have permanent studios at the mill as well as a select group of local guest artists. Throughout the past year, artists have exhibited at several venues including the Zullo Gallery, the Danforth Museum, the Amazing Things Art Center and the Attleboro Arts Museum.
Visitors to the Open Studios can expect to see works in various media including: oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, sculpture and mixed media pieces, photography and digital media, textiles, drawing, printing and quilting. As they walk through studios where artists do their work, they will also enjoy live music by local musicians. Performances are scheduled throughout the weekend.
Refreshments and light fare will be served throughout the building including a wine tasting hosted by The Wine House ( www.thewinehouseinc.com ) on Sunday the 23th from 1:00 - 3:00pm.
As a part of our ongoing local arts community development, this year we will host selected works from the students enrolled in the Holliston High School arts programs.
The Hollliston Mill building was built in the late 1800’s for use as a shoe factory. Over the last 130 years, the building has housed numerous commercial operations. Currently, the mill is home to a half dozen small businesses as well as artists’ studios. The building structure is very much as it was originally designed and therefore has minimal access for handicapped patrons.
