Nutcracker Auditions at Dancing Arts CenterPreparations are underway for Dancing Arts Center's annual Holiday Dance Concert, including ETA Hoffman's Nutcracker which, like every year, is open to participation by dancers from all around New England. This collaboration provides an opportunity to actively share the artistic experiences and standards of excellence with a greater dance community. Come with your friends for placement as a 'super' or main role in our upcoming ballet.
Participation in the Holiday Dance Concert is magical with: beautiful scenery, professional lighting, sparkling costumes, and smiling faces of children and adults capturing the audience's hearts.
The decision to participate in the Nutcracker is one that should be made with care and a full understanding of all the commitments and resources (mostly time) asked of you. Please click here to read the informational packet for aschedule, FAQs, and criteria and rules for participation--everything you need to make an informed decision.
Roles for Trained Dancers Most every young girl hopes to be Clara or one of her party guests, and why not? But if dancing a mischievous mouse or brave soldier is more interesting, it could just happen for you. Be warmed-up, wear classical ballet attire, bring pointe shoes if you have more than two years' experience with them, and have a great time dancing your heart out at the upcoming Nutcracker auditions on Saturday, September 11th.
Roles for Children Ever want to be a sneak-attack mouse? a toy doll? an angel? These and other roles are being cast for the Dancing Arts Center's Nutcracker. Children from across New England are welcomed to audition Saturday, September 11th. Rehearsals for young children are scheduled on Saturday afternoons in late November to December....a minimal commitment.
Walk-on Roles for Adults Roll back time and enter the world of a Victorian era Christmas party, join the Battle Scene as the infamous Rat King, or be a part of the the Snow Scene as the Magical Sleigh Driver. These and many other roles are available for adults with little or no dance experience. All walk-on roles are set the week before the production, right in the theater, requiring little rehearsal time. Informational meeting on Saturday, September 11th at 2:30, auditions follow from 3:30 - 5:30.
