Holliston Teen Band Wins Spot on National Drunk Driving Prevention Music CDEsente Music Group is proud to announce the addition Pongos Groove to our Kid’s Saving Kid’s Drunk Driving Prevention Campaign.
The Massachusetts natives have recently been selected from thousands of teenage musicians across America for the Kids Saving Kids Drunk Driving Prevention Digital Music CD. The Holliston based band was chosen out from over three thousand other performers from across America.
The “Kids Saving Kids” CD will feature thebands’ latest single “Fun Phil”.
The Kids Saving Kids Campaign marks the first time in history that free digital downloads have been used to raise drunk driving awareness. The campaign features twenty of the most talented musicians under eighteen nationwide. The artists appear on a nationally digitally distributed CD, and the music of these talented young people will be available for free downloading by anyone in America. When young people visit the page to hear the music, they will see a host of messages--designed by high school and college students--about the brutal costs of drunk driving and prevention messages.
The campaign is the brainchild of Boston based Stop Drunk Driving Now’s President, Ronald Bellanti. Bellanti the son of a Massachusetts State Trooper is a long time drunk driving awareness advocate who pioneered the use of music as a way to promote awareness to the nation’s young people. "The earlier we start kids thinking about not getting behind the wheel drunk the better. We are lucky to have these young musicians who care enough to do something about what’s going on around them”, says Bellanti. The campaign’s National Spokesperson is Becca Levy. Becca is a fourteen-year-old singer songwriter from Washington DC who has been performing shows for several years and writing songs since she was in grade school. Levy adds, “ It is amazing that kids from all over the country are getting together to make a difference. I want to welcome Pongos Groove to the project and am eager to work together to hopefully save some lives.” When asked why teenagers who are not old enough to get behind the wheel are putting time and energy into this project Levy sums things up succinctly, “Drunk driving effects everyone. Any day of the week any person in America could be involved in an accident with a drunk driver.” When people visit the webpage and listen to the music they will be forced to confront what drunk driving can do to people. Hopefully they will carry that with them. Visit the Kids Saving Kids website for more information on Pongos Groove and about the Campaign, www.ksk.stopddnow.com
