Weather trends (the week ahead).
Temperatures
Even though the calendar now reads March, we will continue our stretch of colder than normal temperatures at least into the middle of next week. For our region, the NWS is predicting high temperatures only in low 30's and overnight lows in the teens for the next couple of days. Temperatures are expected to moderate slightly towards this weekend. This time of year our high temperatures should average near 40F.
Precipitation
See the above weather advisory regarding the light snow accumulations expected Thursday. By the middle of next week a large ocean storm is currently expected to miss us by several hundred miles. As always, stay tuned for any changes or updates.
Daylight
For those who dread the continued snow and cold, there is some good news regarding the length of daylight. Our sunset for March 2nd is now 5:39PM which is a dramatic improvement from the 4:20PM sunsets experienced in mid-December. We are now averaging an extra 2-3 minutes of daylight each day. The trend in increasing day length will continue until June 24th when we reach our latest sunset of 8:25PM.
