Newcomer's House Tour, May 18thFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Some of Holliston's Most Exquisite Homes Will Open their Doors Holliston Newcomers Club House Tours May 18th 12-5 HOLLISTON, Mass. (April 29, 2008) In conjunction with their platinum sponsor Century 21 Commonwealth the Holliston Newcomers Club is proud to present the 2008 Holliston House Tours taking place on May 18th from 12-5. This year there will be five amazing homes on the tour, as well as a private wine and cheese tasting at The Wine House from 4-6. This is a major fund raising event which only occurs every other year for the Newcomers Club. The money raised goes into its annual grants program which funds many community initiatives. Just this spring the club awarded close to $30,000 to many non-profit groups in Holliston such as; the Girls Scouts, the Washington Street Players, Holliston Council for the Arts, the Food Pantry and many more. Each home will feature great food from local caterers, floral arrangements from area florists, wonderful decorating ideas and a bit of history- all while giving back to the community. This is a self guided your in which guests are welcome to stay as long as they'd like at each home and visit them in any order. The first home on the tour is back by popular demand. It is a Georgian Colonial built in 1727, one of the oldest homes in Holliston. Since its last appearance on the house tour in 2005, this home has gone through some major changes. Historian Joanne Hulbert will be speaking on the history of this house, and on the history of this neighborhood, at 1and 3PM on the day of the tour. The next home is a 1987 contemporary design with some eclectic decorating touches throughout. The interesting and tasteful mix of both antique and contemporary furnishings co-exist beautifully throughout the home. Third on the tour is an English Colonial with a Moroccan twist filled with a wonderful collection of antiques and furnishings. Next is where you will see Southern Living in New England! From design to completion, this 2006 home was a three-year labor of love. Working with Holliston architect Ed Nunes, the owners created beautiful architectural elements and design to reflect the historical features of a traditional New England home with the charm and grace of a Southern plantation. Lastly, visitors will be transported to Europe by this home's French Provincial décor, 18th century tapestries, crystal chandeliers and exquisite artwork. Wine, cheese and a bit of history will be offered at The Wine House. Just bring your House Tour booklet as your ticket for a private wine and cheese tasting from 4-6 on the day of the tour. This tour offers something for everyone including the opportunity to win a matted custom watercolor of the outside your home by Elle Randall and a generous gift basket from The Wine House. So whether you want to get decorating ideas from some of Holliston's most exquisite homes, sample food from some fantastic caterers, or check out the beautiful floral arrangements from local florists, it is sure to be a wonderful event for one and all.
