Two Road Construction ProjectsThere are two road construction projects beginning over the next week.
Mass Department of Transportation, Highway Division has scheduled a construction project to repair storm drainage on Concord St. in the area of Planet Petroleum Gas station. They have indicated that construction will begin on Wednesday or Thursday of this week we are hopeful that the work will be completed as quickly as possible.
On Monday July 19th there will be another construction project beginning, this one on Highland Street between Prentice St and Prospect St. This project will result in sidewalks being installed on that portion of Highland St. The project will require the closing of Highland St between Prentice St and Washington St during construction work hours, which are at this time 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Traffic will be detoured as follows:
Southbound traffic on Highland St will be detoured left onto Hollis St then right onto Washington St. then back to Highland St. Northbound traffic on Highland St will be detoured right onto Washington St (RT16) then left onto Hollis St and back to Highland St.
During construction Highland St between Washington St and Prentice St will be open for local residents only.
In an effort to minimize the inconvenience for travelers the Mass DOT Highway Division has agreed to delay a storm drain repair project originally scheduled to begin later this month on Washington St between Highland St and Marked Tree Rd. This project would have compounded the traffic impact of the Highland St project. While a new project start date has not been determined the Mass DOT has informed the police department that the work will need to be completed before winter.
