Matt Flynn Named All American
All Americans are selected from qualifying divers from across the country. Divers who have competed in 11-dive High school meets with a minimum qualifying score of 375 points are eligible for consideration – Matt had a qualifying score of 525 points. Eligible divers are required to send videos of their dives from the qualifying meet. Over several days, NISCA and USA Diving officials watch all DVDs of the divers, and judge each performance as if at a live meet. The top 130 divers scores are then awarded All-American honors – representing less than 1% of all high school divers. The opportunity that the HHS Athletic program provides kids like Matt and countless others in many sports should be applauded. Matt is one of only a handful of HHS All Americans. The two most recent All Americans from HHS include Emiline Berg in the Track and Field Shot Put event (last year) and Kim Thalman in 1998 in the mile and 2 mile track events.”
