Holliston 9s Wins Medway Tondorf Tournament

It has been an exciting start to the summer for a group of baseball players from Holliston.   They have just finished a successful tournament season participating in the Medway Tondorf tournament at Cassidy Field in Medway.  The tournament ran from June 25 – July 21.  The Holliston 9’s team played a nine game season to start the tournament.  They ended with a record of 7-2 with key wins against Hopkinton, Ashland and Dover-Sherborn.  With their impressive regular season record, they were seeded first in the playoffs.

In the first round of playoffs, they beat Franklin 6-2.  This propelled the team to the second round to face Dover-Sherborn. They had beat D-S in the regular season by a slim margin, 5-4.  With impressive pitching and strong defense, they beat D-S, 7-4.  The second round win set them up to face Hopkinton in the 2 out of 3 series finals. 

In the first game of the finals, the Holliston 9’s carried a 4-1 lead into the final inning.  Hopkinton battled back and with two outs had the tying run on second base.  The game concluded in dramatic fashion when Jack Curran fielded a hard hit ground ball in centerfield, hit his cut at shortshop, Anthony LoRicco, and then threw the tying run out at the plate to catcher, Peter Gow.

In the second game of the finals, the Holliston 9’s were ready to bring on the offensive attack.  They beat Hopkinton 16 – 1 to clinch the Tondorf title.  They were proud to represent Holliston and celebrated with an awards ceremony at Cassidy Field.

The team was coached by head coach, Jennie LoRicco, and assistant coaches, Dan Larche, Damon Aronson, Matt Ringie, Tom LoRicco and statisticians, Scott Gow and Kevin Quinn.

Members of the team are Jack Curran, Matthew Leigh, Anthony LoRicco, Peter Gow, James Crews, Timothy Ringie, Kevin Quinn, Owen Ward, Jack Larche, Spencer Aronson, and Benjamin Fink.
