Holliston Youth Lacrosse - Another Successful Season

Holliston Youth Lacrosse had another very successful season this spring.

Uniquely, success in lacrosse is measured by having fun, getting better and being very active – not by wins or losses.  In keeping with the objective of growing the sport, lacrosse is the fastest growing support in the US, with an 18% growth in high school programs last year alone.  Holliston Youth Lacrosse (HYL) had one of its most successful seasons participating in the Mass Bay girls and boys leagues which do not keep score or maintain records in any of the team programs.   Of course, the action is competitive and intense, but the focus is on participating, learning the game, and getting more to join in – even through 8th grade in preparation for high school. For the 2010 spring season, we will hold registrations in the early fall for kids in grades K through 8.

“We have seen such a tremendous explosion of interest in athletes playing lacrosse this past year. Due to that increase in demand, we are looking to expand our program offerings next spring to include a program for kindergarten, developing a house league play format, as well as offering our more advanced players another level of competition without having to pay big bucks to join a Select team. Stay tuned to the website for future announcements” say HYL president Drew Schneeloch.

For girls and boys who may be considering starting to play next spring it is a high scoring sport that can be managed opposite the all dominating Holliston soccer and baseball programs, There are several top lacrosse camps in the area this summer t help in you preparation. For the girls there is a camp right here in Holliston this summer (http://www.achievelax.com/pages/training/quicksticks.html ).  Several of the coaches are from the Northwestern national champion women’s team - 4 time champions. For the boys there are several in the area, but Babson College runs a very good one for newcomers (www.summerprograms.babson.edu/sports_camps/index.cfm) additional camps are listed on our website.
