As Hurricane Earl approaches, The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) recommends a number of steps people can take to help minimize potential damage during hurricane or tropical storm conditions.

State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan said, “Governor Deval L. Patrick has signed into law a ban on novelty lighters, making Massachusetts the 14th state to do so. When adults cannot tell the difference between these lighters and toys, how can we expect a young child to do so?”

The water ban has been downgraded for nonessential outdoor water use.  There is still no water use allowed between the hours of 9 am and 5 pm and no lawn watering on Mondays.
